WHAT IS INFORMAL RECRUITMENT?

Informal Recruitment, also known as Continuous Open Bidding (COB), is a process that allows women to join a sorority outside of the primary recruitment period. Not every chapter participates in COB and the chapters who do participate vary from semester to semester. Chapters under total are eligible to host COB. Informal Recruitment can take place in both the fall and spring semesters. The events are less structured and more casual compared to the formal recruitment process in Spring. Throughout the COB process, sororities will either host events or individually meet with interested women and extend them a bid for membership. To be eligible to participate in COB or receive a bid, you must meet all eligibility requirements. If a woman accepts a COB bid and signs a MRABA (membership recruitment acceptance binding agreement) she is ineligible to accept a bid from another Panhellenic organization for one year. Informal recruitment is a great way to join the Panhellenic community if you missed out on formal recruitment!
