Involvement: The sisters of Alpha Phi hold an annual Red Dress Gala, where sisters and parents come together to raffle off gift baskets and auction items for the Alpha Phi Foundation. These women also host an annual Mac n Phi's, an all night event where sisters serve all-you-can-eat mac and cheese to students to raise money for the Alpha Phi Foundation. Believe it or not, the mac and cheese isn't all you can eat! The women of APhi host a pancake night too! The sisters flip pancakes at the house to serve to anyone that's hungry. The APhi sisters also host Mr. Alpha Phi, a fundraiser contest where Fraternity bothers compete in different talents to see who will be crowned Mr. Alpha Phi!
Sisterhood: Alpha Phi will celebrate 50 years at UD in 2022 with more than 2,000 proud Blue Hen alums (aand counting!) APhi was chartered at UD in 1972, making it one of the first sororities on campus, as well as the longest active chapter at UD. As current sister, Angela Citarella put it “When you become an Alpha Phi, you get endless closets to “shop” in, tears in your eyes from laughing so hard and memories that’ll last a lifetime. This sisterhood is truly one of a kind and something that I can say has completely changed my college experience for the good."
Words from the Chapter President: "Alpha Phi is my home away from home. I am so proud to be a part of an organization that gives back to the community, teaches valuable leadership skills, and provides a safe environment for its members. This chapter has pushed me out of my comfort zone to become the best version of myself. I can say with confidence that I am a better leader, student, friend, and person because of the amazing women in Alpha Phi. There is nothing that could have prepared me for the personal growth and connections this chapter has given me. I am beyond proud to not only be a member of this organization but to have the chance to lead and learn from all of these women."
-Lindsey Janes, Chapter President
HEAR IT FROM THE SISTERS:
"Alpha Phi has given me more than I ever thought a sorority could. I found my best friends and future bridesmaids. Whenever I am feeling down or stressed, I can confidently say that I could call any sister and I know they would be there for me. Alpha Phi is not just a sorority that you are in for four years at UD, it’s a life long network and sisterhood that is FOREVER. The Alpha Phi House, has been my home away from home. Living there my sophomore year was the best decision I could have ever made. Who can say that they live with 48 of their best friends? Not many. Living in our second floor triple with my best friends Sam Gilpin and Kate Brock was definitely the highlight of my time here at UD."
-Grace Dolan, Director of Formal Recruitment
"Alpha Phi has made my college experience exactly what I had dreamed it would be. I’ve gotten the opportunity to meet amazing women who inspire me to be the best version of myself. Everyone is so supportive and warm-hearted, I’ve definitely met my bridesmaids and made friendships that will last a lifetime!"
